Northern Army Commander reviews operational readiness in Uri, Gurez Sectors
Srinagar, Feb 16: Amid persistent security challenges along the Line of Control (LoC), General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, along with General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava visited Uri and Gurez sector in north Kashmir to assess the operational preparedness of troops deployed in the forward areas.
The visit comes at a crucial time as security forces remain on high alert along LoC, which has served as a major infiltration route for terrorists attempting to enter Kashmir from across the border.
With winter beginning to recede, the melting snow along the rugged mountain passes of Gurez and Uri are expected to facilitate renewed infiltration attempts by terrorist groups operating from across the border.
During his tour, the Army Commander interacted with troops on the ground and reviewed counter-infiltration measures in place along the LoC. He was briefed on the latest intelligence inputs, surveillance capabilities, and operational strategies being implemented to thwart any attempts by militants to breach the border.
In his address to the soldiers, Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar commended their dedication and professionalism in safeguarding the nation’s frontiers. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a high state of operational readiness and vigilance, especially with the onset of the summer months when infiltration attempts traditionally witness a surge.
