Northern Army Commander reviews operational readiness in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 21: Amid intensified ongoing counter-terrorist operations following the Pahalgam terror attack, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, conducted a comprehensive review of operational preparedness in the Kashmir besides visiting forward posts in valley
During his visit to forward areas under the jurisdiction of Chinar Corps, Lt Gen Sharma assessed the prevailing security environment, scrutinized counter-insurgency strategies, and interacted with field commanders. He was briefed on ground-level deployments, potential infiltration threats from across the Line of Control (LoC), and the evolving tactical challenges posed by terrorism.
The Army Commander lauded the professionalism, resilience, and offensive spirit displayed by the troops operating in complex and often hostile terrain. “Our troops have demonstrated unwavering professionalism and a clear offensive spirit during recent successful operations. Dominating both cognitive and physical domains through proactive action remains our key focus,” he said while addressing the soldiers.
Sources said Lt Gen Sharma’s visit also coincided with a renewed push by security forces to neutralise terror threats in south Kashmir. The Northern Army Commander emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest levels of vigilance, given the dynamic nature of the threat.
