North Kashmir turns white as higher reaches receive snow; rains lash plains
Srinagar, Nov 24: Several areas of north Kashmir were blanketed by snow Saturday morning as overnight snowfall accumulated over 8mm at some places. While snow was witnessed over many higher reaches, plains in Kashmir were lashed by rains.
The snowfall over Kashmir alpines has forced the closure of many important roads including Mughal Road along the Pir Panjal, Bandipora-Gurez Road. Officials said, Mughal Road was closed for "precautionary measures" and that it will be thrown open soon.
Famous ski-resorts and tourist hubs of Gulmarg, Dhoodpathri, and Sonmarg also received fresh snowfall on Saturday.
As per a private weather forecaster, Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 7.mm of snow accumulation today morning, Bandipora, also in north Kashmir recorded 5mm, Baramulla, also in north Kashmir recorded 4mm, and Handwara, also in north Kashmir received 8mm of snow.
