Srinagar, June 12: Noora Hospital has resumed its Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) services under the leadership of one of India’s foremost heart surgeons, Dr. Ajay Kaul.

A statement by the Hospital said that the move marks a renewed commitment to delivering world-class cardiac care within Kashmir, sparing patients the emotional and financial strain of travelling outside the region for advanced treatment.

Dr Kaul began his new chapter at Noora Hospital by performing a complex Mitral Valve Replacement surgery on a critically ill patient. The operation was a success, with the patient discharged in stable condition just six days later, symbolising the promise of quality care closer to home. Speaking after the surgery, Dr. Kaul said this initiative is not merely about performing procedures, but about healing people in their own land, surrounded by family and culture.

With Dr. Kaul now regularly leading surgeries at the facility, Noora Hospital is poised to become a vital centre for cardiac treatment in Kashmir. The hospital has ramped up its infrastructure and critical care services to support this revival of the CTVS department. The team involved in the successful surgery included Dr. Zubair Rashid and Dr. Sanjeev Popli, along with a dedicated group of ICU physicians, anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, perfusionists, and nursing staff. Intensive post-operative care and rehabilitation were closely overseen by Dr. Mubashir, Dr. Samreena, Dr. Natiq, and their respective teams.

Noora Hospital’s Managing Director, Manzoor Ahmad, emphasised the larger vision behind the initiative, saying the goal is to provide compassionate and high-quality care within the Valley so that no one has to leave home for life-saving treatment. Under Dr. Kaul’s guidance, the hospital aims to develop a self-reliant and state-of-the-art cardiac unit that will cater to the growing needs of the people of Kashmir.

The return of advanced CTVS services at Noora Hospital is not just a medical milestone—it is a step towards restoring faith in local healthcare and ensuring that world-class healing is available right where it is most needed.
