Non-local driver shot at in Shopian

Shopian, Apr 8: A non-local driver was shot at and injured after terrorists fired at him in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.

The injured driver has been identified as Dilranjeet Singh, son of Parmeet Singh of Delhi.

A Police official said that the terrorists opened fire at Singh inside a hotel in Bohrihalan village, some 7 km from Shopian, leaving him critically injured.

“He received bullet injuries in his abdomen and was shifted to District Hospital Shopian from where, given the serious nature of his injuries, the doctors sent him to Srinagar,” an official said.

He said that the incident occurred at around 8:30 pm.

The official said that the driver along with his two Germany-based passengers had been staying in the hotel for the last two days. He said that both the tourists were safe.

SSP Shopian Tanushree said that Police were investigating the matter.
