Nomadic movements, breakdown of vehicles impede traffic along Srinagar-Jammu National Highway
Srinagar, Oct 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police Saturday said that the traffic along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has been slowed down as several vehicles have suffered a breakdown even as the nomadic movement has also affected the commute along the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir valley to the outside world.
"Slow movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW between Ramban and Banihal due to breakdown of vehicles and movement of nomadic flocks. Commuters are advised to keep patience, follow lane discipline, overtaking will lead to congestion," said the traffic authorities on their official X-handle.
They also advised people planning to undertake the journey along the route, to travel during the daytime as movement of nomads, moving from Kashmir to Jammu may cause inconvenience during late hours.
As the winter approaches, nomadic families, who stay in the higher reaches of Kashmir valley during summers, travel to the plains of Jammu to avoid harsh Kashmir weather.
The authorities further said that Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, and NH-244 are open for traffic.
