Nocturnal gunfight breaks out in Lolab Kupwara
Srinagar, Nov 05: A nocturnal gunfight between security forces and terrorists broke out in Lolab forest area of Kupwara district, officials said.
They said after specific inputs about presence of militants, the Army’s 28RR along with J&K Police Kupwara cordoned off Lolab forests and started searches.
“Soon after the search party zeroed in the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire which led to encounter in the area,” they said.
The cordon has been tightened in the area, officials said.
They added that two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
The exchange of fire was underway when last reports came in.
Earlier encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Bandipora forests in which one terrorist was killed and two security personnel have been injured.
The operation in the area was also underway.
