No to Drugs, Yes to Life: Massive NMBA campaign sweeps Kishtwar Panchayats
Kishtwar, May 19: In a united stand against drug abuse, the Departments of Social Welfare and Youth Services & Sports launched a widespread awareness campaign under the Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) across several panchayats in Kishtwar. With rallies, street plays, and student-led skits, the initiative aimed to sensitise communities about substance abuse and promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles.
With the central message “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”, the campaign sought to sensitise the youth and the general public about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of living a healthy, productive life free from substance abuse.
At each panchayat location, a series of awareness activities were conducted, including rallies, motivational talks, posters & banner campaigns, skits by students, and community interaction sessions. These events saw active participation from students, teachers, local youth clubs, PRI members, and members of civil society.
Officials from both departments emphasised the critical role that education and sports can play in preventing substance abuse. Speakers highlighted the importance of engaging youth in positive recreational and educational activities as a preventive measure against drug use.
Representatives from the Social Welfare Department shed light on government initiatives, helplines, and rehabilitation services available under the Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan. Meanwhile, officials from the Department of Youth Services & Sports encouraged youth to participate in physical activities, games, and talent development programmes being organised throughout the district.
The initiative concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to uphold the values of a drug-free society and to serve as ambassadors of the NMBA campaign within their respective areas.
