No official report released on Pahalgam Identities: Defence Ministry
New Delhi, Aug 4: A purported report detailing the identities and backgrounds of the Pahalgam attackers is being circulated across media platforms and social media, claiming to be sourced from the Indian Armed Forces. However, the Ministry of Defence has categorically denied issuing or authorising any such report.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry clarified that no official media handle, Public Relations Office, or designated spokesperson of the Indian Armed Forces has prepared or released such a document. The report in question, according to the Ministry, appears to be a compilation of open-source information and post-encounter details with no official validation.
The clarification comes amid a flurry of unverified media reports on Pahalgam attackers of some recovery of items, identities of Pahalgam attackers during the encounter. The Defence Ministry has urged the public and media outlets to rely solely on information shared through authorised government channels.
