No fresh terrorist-infiltration from IB: IG BSF Jammu
Jammu, Dec 7: Inspector General (IG) of Border Security Force (BSF) Jammu Frontier Shashank Anand has asserted that the border guarding force has effectively curbed the fresh infiltration through the International Border (IB).
“They are old groups of terrorists who would have infiltrated through LoC from Kashmir or from Jammu. This is what our intelligence says,” IG Anand said, while speaking to Greater Kashmir.
He was responding to a question about the frequent sighting of terrorists in different parts of Jammu region.
“No fresh infiltration has taken place. We have not allowed it to happen. As far as the reports of sighting (of terrorists) are concerned, they are the same three or four groups which are roaming around in the hinterland – whether one talks about Rajouri-Poonch or Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua or Udhampur,” IG Anand said.
He pointed out that massive anti-terrorist operations were being conducted there.
“Our Army is operating in those places at a massive scale. RR (Rashtriya Rifles) is there. With them, there are Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) - Special Operations Group (SOGs) deployed in those areas. They are operating in a synergised manner at a big scale to hunt down (those remaining terrorists. In the recent past, many (Counter-Insurgency) operations have taken place. In a number of cases, we (security forces) have achieved success also (in eliminating terrorists),” IG BSF Jammu frontier said.
“I believe that we (security forces) have reached quite close to our mission to eliminate them. Rest assured, soon those remaining terrorists too will be wiped out,” he said.
With regard to reports about infiltration through IB after the recent frequent sightings of terrorists in Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Chenab valley districts. IG Anand described them as “mere speculations.”
“See, people indulge in speculation. On the basis of speculations, one can craft any theory. But on the ground, we go by hard evidence,” he stated.
A number of times, security forces have established contacts, encounters have begun in different areas and then they (terrorists) disappear in thin air to emerge in a new area.
Where do they disappear? Have they set up their bases in deep forest stretches?
Responding to these queries, IG BSF Jammu frontier stated, “They keep on shifting their bases and they act as per instructions they get from their handlers. Mostly they are dormant. They strike as and when they receive instructions (from across the border).”
