NLCO restores 11th spring at Anchar

Srinagar, Mar 30: In a significant achievement under Mission Ehsaas – Phase 5, the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) has successfully restored the 11th spring at Anchar, Soura.

"The spring, which had been in a dilapidated state for years, has now been fully revived and handed over to the local community as an Eid gift.The restoration was carried out in collaboration with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), with dedicated efforts from Team NLCO and key individuals who supported the initiative," NLCO Chairman Manzoor Wangnoo said.

“It is a great moment for us to see another natural water resource restored. The spring, once neglected, now flows with clean, drinkable water, as confirmed by lab tests. We hope the local community will take ownership and preserve this treasure for generations to come. This is Eid gift to locals," Wangnoo added.

Wangnoo extended special thanks to SMC for the collaboration and Dr. Raja Muzaffar, Dr. Tauseef, and Er. Abdul Rashid for their unwavering support throughout the restoration process.

Meanwhile, local residents and environmentalists have hailed the initiative, acknowledging the impact of such conservation efforts in reviving Kashmir’s fragile water ecosystems.

"As NLCO continues its mission to restore Kashmir’s neglected water bodies, i urge stakeholders, authorities, and the community to come forward and contribute to preserving these natural assets," Wangnoo added.
