NLCO Chairman calls on Secretary HU&DD

Srinagar, Aug 14: Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) Manzoor Wangnoo today held a meeting with Mandeep Kaur, Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department (HU&DD), to discuss the pressing issues surrounding the restoration of Gilsar and Khushalsar, the twin urban lakes in Srinagar.

During the meeting, Wangnoo expressed his gratitude to the Secretary for her patient hearing and prompt responses to the challenges outlined. He presented a detailed memorandum highlighting the significant issues hindering the rejuvenation of these vital water bodies.

Wangnoo emphasised the positive ripple effect that the revival of Gilsar and Khushalsar would have on other surrounding lakes and water bodies, particularly Dal and Nigeen.

“The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with hopes that the conservation efforts for these twin lakes will soon materialise, Wangnoo added.
