NIT Srinagar hosts 5th TEDx conference
Srinagar, Nov 18: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday hosted the 5th edition of its TEDx conference under the theme ‘Conclusions that Create Change.’
A statement of NIT issued here said that the event was organised by the Department of Training and Placements (T&P) and brought together eminent speakers from across the country who shared their transformative life journeys with students.
In her special message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof Roohie Naaz, said events like TEDx offer students valuable opportunities for learning, personal growth, and exposure to diverse ideas.
Head, Department of Training and Placement, Prof Aijaz Ahmad Mir said motivation plays a crucial role in igniting self-determination and self-belief among students.
This year’s TEDx NIT Srinagar conference featured a lineup of changemakers who embody the spirit of ‘ideas worth spreading.’
The speakers included Jagdeep Singh, professional MMA fighter Owais Yaqoob, actor Mir Sarwar, filmmaker Sonali Gupta, investor Khalid Wani, actor Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, and social worker Javed Ahmad.
The event also hosted climate activist Licypriya, founder of DORAI Foundation, Sumithra Prasad, and singer Mehmeet Syed.
Registrar Prof Atikur Rehman praised the organisers for creating an environment where students can interact with achievers from diverse fields.
Earlier, Hiral from Fortinet delivered a session on the evolving landscape of cybersecurity, highlighting how digital threats are becoming more sophisticated with each passing day.
Umar Majid, Coordinator, and Syed Hussain, Supervisor for TEDx NIT Srinagar from the Department of Training and Placement, were felicitated by the Director, Registrar, and Head of Department for their contribution to the conduct of the event.
Cultural performer Noor Muhammad captivated the audience with a powerful Kashmiri folk fusion act that highlighted the Valley’s rich artistic heritage.
