NIT Srinagar condoles death of student in crash on Boulevard
Srinagar, May 02: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Thursday consoled the sudden demise of Vipul Tyagi, a student of the Mechanical Engineering Department, in a tragic road accident on a rainy day.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Vipul, a 4th Semester student from the 2022 batch (BMECH115), met with an accident near Foreshore road on 28th March. The deceased was going under treatment at SKIMS Soura for many days but ultimately lost his life on Wednesday, said a statement by the NIT.
He was provided every possible support by the institution, said NIT director Prof.A.Ravinder Nath.
The entire NIT Srinagar community including teaching, non teaching staff, students and scholars, led by Prof Nath, gathered at the Fountain Park for a condolence meeting. A two-minute silence was observed, and prayers were offered for the departed soul.
Describing Vipul Tyagi's passing as both untimely and sorrowful, Director expressed his profound grief and prayed for the departed soul.
While extending condolences to the bereaved family, Nath wished them strength to bear the loss.
"During this difficult period, may the family find the strength and resilience needed to navigate through the profound grief. NIT Srinagar stands united with them in this time of sorrow," Prof. Nath said.
"We are all aware of the rights and duties bestowed upon us by the constitution. While we often assert our rights, we must also remember our duties and responsibilities. When students are away from home, they must be more cautious and adhere to local advisories. Let us all learn from this tragic incident and cultivate self-discipline. His loss is an irreparable one for the Institute," he said.
Other faculty members expressed their sorrow too.
In the statement, the institution warned its students-mostly from outside- to exercise "caution and prioritize safety amid uncertainties in the climate of J&K including heavy rainfall, landslides, and road closures. It is imperative to be safe," it said.
