The searches were conducted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and J&K as part of investigations into case RC-01/2025/NIA/CHE. The agency seized several digital devices, including mobile phones, along with incriminating documents and materials during the operation.

The case originated from the arrest of one Akhlathur alias Mohammed Akhlque Mujahid in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu earlier this year. He is accused of conspiring with others to commit terrorist acts in India, with the alleged aim of mobilising men and material to wage jihad by joining forces with proscribed terrorist organisations.

According to the NIA, Mujahid maintained contact with terror outfits through social media platforms and was found to have links with entities in Pakistan and Syria.
