​Srinagar, Aug 26: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar on Tuesday issued a warning regarding rising water levels in the Jhelum river due to continuous rainfall in entire Jammu and Kashmir.

Authorities have advised the public to remain vigilant, particularly those in low-lying areas.

​While speaking to news wire, Director of the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said, "There is a chance of water level rising in the lower and middle parts of the Jhelum till today evening due to continuous rainfall. After that, the water level in the river will start coming down."

"Due to rain since last week in the Jammu region, the water level has risen in rivers and nallas. People staying near low-lying areas must remain safe and alert," he said.
