New Principal takes over at Amar Singh College
Srinagar, Dec 5: Prof Aijaz Ahmed Hakak has officially taken charge as the 35th Principal of the prestigious Amar Singh College, Srinagar.
He succeeds Prof Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, who is now serving as the Director Colleges, Jammu and Kashmir. Dr Aijaz Ahmed Hakak, renowned for his extensive academic and administrative expertise, was warmly welcomed by the faculty and non-teaching staff of
Amar Singh College lead by the senior-most faculty member, Prof G M Nengroo.
Dr Hakak brings a wealth of experience to the institution. A seasoned academician, he has taught statistics for several years before assuming various administrative responsibilities. Before his current assignment as the Principal Amar Singh College, he served as the Principal of Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, and previously held the post of Joint Secretary at the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
Acknowledging the contributions of his predecessor, Prof (Dr) Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Dr Hakak expressed gratitude for the foundation laid for excellence and progress. He emphasised the need for teamwork and shared responsibility, stating, “I am one among the faculty members, and together, as a family, we will strive to uphold the legacy of academic excellence at Amar Singh College.”
Dr Hakak envisions Amar Singh College as a hub of academic excellence, emphasising a student-centric approach to education. He expressed the objective to enhance teaching methodologies, integrate advanced technology, and foster a culture of impactful research in line with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020).
Upgrading infrastructure and expanding community engagement initiatives are also among his priorities. With a focus on holistic development, he plans to create an environment where students and faculty thrive collaboratively.
