New JKBOSE Chairman, Director SCERT: 2-months after interaction, no headway in appointment
Srinagar, Jun 9: Despite the passage of over two months since the Search Committee interacted with the shortlisted candidates, the final appointments of the Chairman of JKBOSE and Director SCERT are still awaited, leaving both the institutions headless. As already reported by this newspaper, the Search Committee constituted by the J&K Government on April 4 held interaction with the shortlisted candidates for the post of Chairman JKBOSE and Director J&K State Council of Educational Research and Trainings (SCERT). However, there seems to be no further headway in the selection process.
The interaction was held at civil Secretariat Jammu wherein the search committee headed its chairman interacted with the 15 candidates shortlisted for the post of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT.
The Search Committee was reconstituted in December last year for recommending the panel of the candidates for the appointment as Chairman JKBOSE and the Director J&K SCERT. Talking to Greater Kashmir, minister for education Sakina Itoo said the panel of candidates for the post of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT was submitted by the search committee and the final selection will be done as per the rules.
She said the positions of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT are crucial, and the selected candidates must be highly competent to effectively discharge their responsibilities. "One who will be appointed as chairman of JKBOSE and Director SCERT should be able to deliver. Our whole education system is dependent on SCERT and Board," she said.
The minister further said both the positions were looked after by Financial Commissioner Shantmanu but the government is examining the panel for final selection. "We are looking into it. It is very important to have a full time head for JKBOSE and SCERT. We are examining it and the selection will be made as per the rule," she told Greater Kashmir.
As already reported, the Search committee was headed by Administrative Secretary Agricultural Production Department as its chairman while the Administrative Secretary of School Education Department (SED), GAD and Higher Education Department (HED) are its members. The other two members of the search committee include Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir (KU) and Vice Chancellor University of Jammu (JU).
