New Delhi, Nov 22: New Delhi hosted the 10th Session of the Asian and Pacific Centre for Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) on Inclusive Disaster Risk Data Governance at Vigyan Bhawan, bringing together key regional stakeholders to strengthen disaster preparedness. The Indian delegation was led by Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Disaster Management, accompanied by Rajendra Singh, Member and Head of Department, NDMA, and Manish Bharadwaj, Secretary, NDMA.

In his inaugural address, Rai underlined India’s commitment to advancing regional disaster resilience and collaboration. He said that under India’s Chairmanship and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country will promote a comprehensive capacity-building roadmap focusing on risk assessment, geospatial tools, impact-based forecasting, early warning systems, and climate-resilient infrastructure planning.

India reiterated its resolve to work closely with APDIM and UN ESCAP, aligning efforts with Prime Minister Modi’s 10-Point Agenda for Disaster Risk Reduction, which stresses technology-driven solutions, local-level investments, stronger risk data systems, and enhanced academic and regional partnerships.

The session discussed APDIM’s previous year’s activities, plans for 2026, and its strategic work plan for 2026–2030. The outcomes will shape APDIM’s future programmes and contribute to the Sendai Framework and the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
