New criminal laws will ensure transparency, accountability: SSP Srinagar
Srinagar, Feb 13: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Imtiyaz Hussain on Thursday said that India’s transition from colonial-era laws to a democratic legal framework reflects the country’s free and democratic spirit.
Speaking at an event organised to raise awareness about the new criminal laws, the SSP highlighted the shift from a penal-based system to a justice-oriented approach.
He said that the new laws are designed to be student-centric and ensure better justice delivery with enhanced transparency and accountability.
“We are a free democratic country, and this radical transformation is in line with that spirit. Our goal today was to create awareness about these changes,” he told media persons on the sidelines of the event.
He explained that the transition from the Indian Penal Code to the new criminal laws represents a move towards a more inclusive and just legal system. “The government’s intent is to make these laws student-centric and ensure justice is delivered more effectively,” he added.
The SSP further stressed the importance of public awareness and participation in implementing these legal reforms. “Transparency and accountability have been embedded in these laws, and government awareness programs will continue to educate people about them,” he said.
He urged people to support and cooperate in the implementation of the new laws, stating that a people-centric approach will only be successful with active public engagement.
