Ganderbal, Aug 29: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah Thursday said that he had never taken any election easy and that he hoped the people of Ganderbal would elect him again.

“I have never taken any election for granted, especially after the recently held parliamentary polls,” Omar told media persons in Ganderbal.

About the possibility of Engineer Rashid getting bail, Omar said that the bail was not granted through votes but by the court.

“Let’s wait on what conditions will Engineer Rashid be allowed to walk out of jail,” he said.

He said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had similarly opposed the withdrawal of the case against Farooq Abdullah but the court decided, and the case was withdrawn.

He said that the court would decide on September 4.

“I think the NIA will fail their argument just like the ED did,” Omar said.

He said that while he believes the current assembly lacks the strength it should have, “we can only strengthen it through this assembly.”

Earlier, Omar was received by NC members with garlands and pro-NC slogans.

National Conference leader Sheikh Gayasuddin was also present on the occasion.
