NESTS signs MoU with Tata Motors
New Delhi, Jul 10: In a step to improve employability among tribal youth, the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors Limited (TML). The partnership, formalised on July 9, 2025, will support skill-linked education and employment opportunities for Class 12 students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs). Under the five-year agreement, eligible students will be enrolled in Tata Motors' flagship Kaushalya Program.
The initiative follows an “Earn & Learn” model, combining a Diploma in Engineering with on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and regular assessments.
Students aged 18 to 23 who have passed Class 10 with at least 60% marks and are completing Class 12 from EMRSs will be considered for the program. The initiative is expected to benefit over 50,000 students across 28 states and 8 union territories. Participants will receive stipends, subsidized food and transport, uniforms, and insurance coverage. Top-performing students will also have the opportunity to pursue higher education, including B.Tech through partner institutions like BITS Pilani. Upon successful completion, students will receive placement support under a "One Trainee, One Job" policy, with job opportunities available at Tata Motors’ various manufacturing and service locations across India.
