Prof Romshoo said that many things had to be done to properly implement the policy, maybe, till 2040.

“Considering the freedom in choosing the discipline, many universities have started an initiative of the Design Your Degree (DYD) programme. It is the best model available to provide choice to the students to select their subjects,” he said.

The IUST VC said that his varsity also had a DYD programme for students which he said was the best model as the university offers 70 percent courses at UG level.

“We have to promote innovation and incubation which is necessary as part of NEP-2020,” he said.

Prof Romshoo said that availability of adequate infrastructure was also a must for creativity and incubation.

“Implementation of NEP-2020 also needs availability of funds. And once we provide funds to schools and colleges we must see how much of it gets utilised,” he said.
