NEET-PG postponed, new dates to be announced

Srinagar, Jun 2: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) today issued notification to postpone the NEET-PG 2025 examination, originally scheduled for June 15, 2025, following a Supreme Court order. The apex court has directed NBEMS to conduct the exam in a single shift instead of two for ensuring complete transparency.

The major move to carry out the exam in a single shift would require large scale logistical adjustments such as increasing test centres and enhancing infrastructure to accommodate all candidates simultaneously. The official notification has stated, "Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in W.P. No. 456/2025 (Aditi & Ors Versus National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences & Ors) has ordered that: 'We, accordingly, direct the respondents to make necessary arrangements for holding the NEET-PG 2025, examination in one shift, duly ensuring that complete transparency is maintained and secure centres are identified and commissioned.' Accordingly, NBEMS will conduct NEET-PG 2025 in a single shift." The NBEMS has clarified that the exam will not occur on June 15, 2025, as originally planned. "NEET-PG 2025 scheduled to be held on 15.06.2025 has been postponed to arrange for more Test Centres and required infrastructure. The revised date for conduct of NEET-PG 2025 shall be notified shortly," the notification added.

The announcement has sparked concerns among aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Many candidates told Greater Kashmir they had already made travel and accommodation bookings outside to appear at their designated test centres. Aghast by the change, they are now demanding that NBEMS allocate new test centres within J&K to avoid the financial and logistical burden of traveling outside the region.

Their similar demand earlier foe more exam centers in J&K did not meet any success. Candidates have been advised to check the official NBEMS website regularly for updated examination schedule.
