Need to open hill resorts to revive tourism: G M Shaheen

Srinagar, Dec 26: The President of Janta Dal United (JDU) GM Shaheen has urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately open and actively promote key tourist destinations including Yusmarg, Doodhpathri, and Tosamaidan to help gear up the stalled tourism sector in the Union Territory.

As per a press release, Shaheen said that despite possessing immense natural beauty and untapped tourism potential, these destinations remain neglected, under-promoted, and partially inaccessible, resulting in avoidable losses to local livelihoods.

He stated that tourism is the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, and continued inaction is directly harming hoteliers, transporters, ponywalas, guides, artisans, and thousands of families dependent on the sector.
