NCORD meeting held in Kulgam to curb drug abuse
Kulgam, Feb 29: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to discuss various measures aimed to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of decisions and directions passed in the previous meeting. During the meeting, concerned departments briefed the chair about the measures taken to control the drug menace in the district.
The meeting was informed that during the current month 101 pharmacies were inspected and operation of 08 pharmacies was suspended.
It was also shared that 96 percent pharmacies have installed CCTVs. It was revealed that during the current month 12 drug peddlers were arrested and 12 FIRs were registered and 19 KG Poppy straws and 54 gms heroin was recovered.
With regard to declaration of Nasha Mukt Panchayats, it was shared that 12 Panchayats have been recommended for declaring them as Nasha Mukt Panchayats by Tehsil and Sub Division Level Committees.
On the occasion, stress was laid on Officers of all the line departments including Enforcement agencies to ensure better coordination in imposing greater deterrence to combat dangerous trade of drug-trafficking.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; ACR, SDM Noorabad and other officers from police and civil administration.
