Ganderbal, Oct 16: The Health Centre, in association with the Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) and the Department of Biotechnology at the Central University of Kashmir (CUK), collaborated with the District NCD Division and the Chief Medical Officer's Office in Ganderbal to organise a one-day non-communicable disease (NCD) screening and oral health awareness camp at the Nunar Campus of the university on Tuesday.

The camp was inaugurated by Prof Abid Hamid, Director of the Campus and Head of the Department of Biotechnology, in the presence of medical officers Dr Abid and Dr Sheeba, Mohammad Yaseen Mir, District Program Coordinator (DPC) from the CMO Office in Ganderbal, and Javid Ali, Medical Attendant.

A team of health professionals, including Dr Shazia and Dr Aaliya (Dental Surgeons) and Fayaz Ahmad (Dental Technician), participated in the camp. Dr Haamid Peerzada (Medical Officer, NCD Clinic, DH Ganderbal), Mudasir Ali (Counselor), Muzamil Farooq (Staff Nurse), and Dr Naiyla Ellahi (Physiotherapist, DH Ganderbal) were also present.

Additionally, Crestcare Diagnostics Lab partnered to provide diagnostic services.

The camp offered a wide range of free health services, including NCD screening, oral health check-ups, BMI and vital sign assessments, along with free medications. Clinical blood tests were made available at no cost or subsidized rates, ensuring affordable healthcare for all.

Over 270 students, faculty, and staff members from the university benefited from these services.

The collaboration between the university and the district's healthcare division played a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare, particularly regarding NCDs and oral hygiene.
