NCC cadets of SMVDU participate in pre-NIC camp at NTA Nagrota
Jammu, Jun 18: In a commendable display of discipline, enthusiasm and national spirit, two NCC cadets from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Charvi Thakur and Saher Sharma, participated in the pre-National Integration Camp (pre-NIC) held at the NCC Training Academy, Nagrota.
The camp, as per an SMVDU spokesperson, aimed to prepare and shortlist cadets for the Special National Integration Camp (SNIC), a prestigious platform that fosters unity and cultural exchange among youth from across the country. “The camp offered a structured and intensive training programme that included daily Physical Training (PT) sessions, where cadets engaged in fitness drills and exercises to improve endurance, discipline and coordination. Cadets also underwent professional Wushu training, which equipped them with self-defense skills and helped enhance focus, strength and agility,” the spokesperson said.
In addition to physical and leadership training, cadets, according to the spokesperson, showcased their talents by actively participating in the cultural events organized during the camp. These events included group singing, dance performances, dramatics and state-wise cultural presentations that celebrated India’s rich diversity. “Their spirited performances helped promote cultural harmony and left a lasting impression on fellow cadets and instructors. Both cadets also underwent various modules of the pre-SNIC selection process. These were designed to identify cadets with leadership potential and a deep sense of national pride to represent the region at the SNIC,” spokesperson said.
Dr Varun Dutta, NCC coordinator and Deepika Malik, CTO, NCC from SMVDU consistently motivated and guided the cadets throughout their preparation and participation. “Their mentorship played a vital role in encouraging the cadets to excel in all spheres of the camp. On this proud occasion,” spokesperson said. Prof Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, SMVDU, congratulated the cadets for their outstanding participation. They appreciated the efforts of the NCC unit of SMVDU in fostering leadership, cultural awareness and a spirit of service and unity among the students.
