NC will prioritise repeal of AFSPA: Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, Aug 31: National Conference (NC) Vice President and party candidate for Ganderbal assembly constituency, Omar Abdullah, today said that if voted to power his party will prioritise the repealing of AFSPA.
He also stated that NC will put an end to unjust harassment faced by Kashmiri youth. According to a press release Omar was addressing a party function here. He welcomed a number of prominent political activists into the party at his Gupkar residence in Srinagar.
The NC leader stated that any vote not cast in favor of the NC and its allies will ultimately benefit the BJP, regardless of which party people vote for.
Omar expressed his satisfaction about the growing support for the NC and its policies on the ground. He emphasised that the new members joining the party will play a crucial role in expanding its reach in various areas.
Omar highlighted the significance of the party's manifesto. He said, “The manifesto truly reflects the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This is precisely why it was rejected by the BJP.” He warned that every vote cast in favour of parties other than the NC and its allies will only serve to strengthen the BJP, regardless of the party chosen.
The NC leader made it clear that the NC is not interested in winning through fear tactics against the BJP. "Instead, the party has developed a comprehensive manifesto that addresses the concerns of artisans, unemployed youth, agriculturalists, transporters, hoteliers, traders, and more. This manifesto not only identifies the issues but also presents a clear roadmap to tackle them effectively," he said.
Omar stated that NC reiterates its unwavering dedication to fulfilling the promises outlined in our manifesto. “Once in power, the NC-led government will prioritise the repeal of AFSPA, putting an end to the unjust harassment faced by our youth. We are committed to streamlining the passport verification process, creating job opportunities for the unemployed, and ensuring that every household has access to essential resources such as 12 cylinders, enhanced ration, and reliable utility services like water and electricity without burdening their finances,” he said.
