Jammu, Sep 08: J&K BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi Sunday accused the National Conference (leaders) of intimidating people by “threatening to assassinate those who were not supporting the party.”

Referring to a particular incident in Ganderbal, Sethi, accompanied by BJP spokespersons Arun Gupta (media centre incharge), Girdhari Lal Raina and Balbir Ram Rattan, in a press conference at J&K BJP media centre at Channi, Jammu, alleged that the concerned NC leader could not do so “without the consent of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who was contesting from that Assembly segment.”

Sethi said that BJP was exploring various legal options and soon would approach Election Commission of India (ECI) demanding cancellation or rejection of Omar Abdullah’s nomination from Ganderbal.

“A former Sarpanch of Ganderbal, with consent from Omar Abdullah, has threatened that those who do not support the flag of NC would be killed,” Sethi said.

Omar has filed his nomination from Ganderbal Assembly constituency.

Sethi said, “ADC has already filed a complaint and BJP will also approach ECI to file complaint against Omar and demand cancellation of his nomination. Our legal experts are exploring various legal options and soon we will approach ECI demanding cancellation or rejection of Omar Abdullah’s nomination from Ganderbal.”

“There is no way that a former Sarpanch could have threatened the people without the consent of Omar,” he said.

Sethi said that Congress and NC, instead of talking about their manifestos, were misleading the people on other issues and had no roadmap for the development of J&K.

“It is very sad that Omar is questioning the decision of the Supreme Court on hanging of Afzal Guru, who was involved in the attack on Indian Parliament,” Sethi said, adding, “Raising the issue of Afzal Guru during elections shows that NC has no issue.”
