NC suggesting restoring A-370 not their cup of tea: Er Rashid

Bandipora, Oct 14: Member of Parliament from north Kashmir, Sheikh Rashid mocked National conferences frail stand on Article 370, saying the party suggests that it is not their cup of tea.

Rashid said, "It feels sorry to say that NC which was previously talking on restoring the status of 1953 are now hardly requesting for statehood which they are also not sure of, adding NC 'lacks courage to stare into the eyes of Modi.'

The firebrand politician said that if BJP rules the country for 50 more years, does that mean NC will won't talk about the Article-370, referring to Omar's recent remarks.

People have put their hopes on the political leadership, Rashid said, "this is why I suggest no to take oath until the statehood is restored."

He said Omar is rushing towards getting VIP treatment and other privileges.

The AIP chief, who had won the parliamentary elections by a landslide but lost in the legislative elections, said that he will "request Modi to let Omar run the government smoothly."

"My same request goes to lieutenant governor, he should cooperate fully," Rashid, who is still out on bail said.

Neither courts, nor the Modi-led government will restore Article-370. For the article to be restored, Sheikh Rashid, who is also known as Engineer Rashid said, the leadership needs to initiate a political movement for it to happen.

"If they do it, we are with them, if otherwise, AIP will fight the battle alone," he remarked.
