NC receiving overwhelming response from people: Mian Altaf

Anantnag, Apr 6: Senior National Conference leader and party Lok Sabha candidate for Anantnag- Rajouri seat Mian Altaf Ahmad on Saturday said that they are hopeful that the people would come out in droves to cast their ballots.

Talking to reporters in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, Mian Altaf said that the National Conference is receiving an overwhelming response from the people." Over the past few days, people in large numbers have been participating in our party programmes".

He said that the huge participation of people in our programmes reflect the strength of the National Conference on the ground. Responding to a question about the division of votes between Gujjar and Paharis, Mian Altaf said that he never believed in polarising the communities. "I have never engaged in politics based on the division of communities", he said.

The NC leader said that the contest would be tough, but his party has always accepted and faced the challenges.

Responding to BJP's claims of securing a clean sweep in the polls, Main Altaf said that they should wait for June 4, when the poll results will be declared.

Earlier addressing a public rally, Mian Altaf urged the people to send out a message through their votes that the decision taken on August 5 was unpalatable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that on that day a historic state was downgraded and split into two Union Territories.
