NC plotting to initiate land Jihad misusing Waqf: LoP

Jammu, Apr 9: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Kumar Sharma Wednesday accused the National Conference government of “plotting to initiate ‘Land Jihad’ and ‘Legislative Jihad’ by misusing the name of Waqf.”

While responding to media queries, he said that BJP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia had brought two important adjournment motions on unemployment and daily wagers’ regularization issues.

“But we have seen that the Government wants to escape from its responsibility. It does not want to fulfill its poll promises. They want to convert the Legislature into “Jihad Ka Adda”. They want to start “Legislative Jihad” “Land Jihad” and want to protect Jehadis in the name of Waqf,” Sunil Sharma alleged.

“They want to do injustice with daily wagers and unemployed youth. We will not let it happen. We will ensure justice for them. In the name of Waqf land and outside it, NC leaders distributed Waqf land among their relatives and families. Its legislators want to protect the land mafia,” the LoP alleged.

He claimed, “NC was trying to effect a demographic change in Jammu by capturing land. Earlier also I had mentioned that a committee led by a Justice had brought a list of 689 encroachers belonging to a specific community encroaching Tawi riverbed.”
