Srinagar, Aug 07: National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah today said that his party will not form pre-poll alliance with any party for coming assembly elections.

He was talking to media persons here. “National Conference will not form any pre-poll alliance. We will fight assembly elections on our own,” Dr Farooq said.

NC had formed an electoral alliance with Congress in recent parliamentary polls. At that time also initially Dr Farooq Abdullah had ruled out an alliance with the party. But later NC President Omar Abdullah intervened and the alliance with Congress came into being.

During his media interaction here today, Dr Farooq Abdullah said while the Election Commission of India (ECI) team will arrive here tomorrow for a three day visit, the decision regarding holding of assembly polls will not be taken by them. “ They will not take any decision. Rather they will approach the Prime Minister and Home Minister, who will decision about the polls,” Dr Farooq said.

About the new Hajj policy, he said the government must not interfere in religious issues. “ They should not stop anybody from performing Hajj. People spend their own money and not that of the government. Can we tell others, performing yatra, not to do it again. How can we tell them. Regarding Bangladesh situation, NC President said in Bangladesh, the former Prime Minister (Sheikh) Hasina wajid was pro-India, but the people there are not so.

Earlier, addressing a one-day convention of the Women's Wing of Kashmir Province, Dr Farooq Abdullah emphasised the importance of political participation of women by increasing their representation in decision-making positions. He stated that his party has been a trailblazer in this regard.

He highlighted NC's commitment to promoting women's political participation, ensuring that decision-making processes within the party are inclusive and responsive. He stressed the importance of empowering women and encouraging their active involvement in politics.
