Srinagar, Aug 17: National Conference (NC) President Omar Abdullah today said that his party draws its strength from support of the people.

According to a press note, he was addressing a meeting with the party functionaries at the party headquarters here.

Omar Abdullah emphasised the importance of unity within the party and maintaining strong connections with the public to ensure the success of party candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections. “National Conference draws its strength from the collaboration and support of the people, making them the cornerstone of the party's vision,”he said.

The NC leader reiterated that the party's ability to serve the public and represent the interests of all three regions hinges on its strength. “Therefore, it is imperative to prioritise the party's growth and work diligently towards achieving common goals,” he said adding, "The National Conference remains committed to its founding principle of empowering the people and will continue to uphold this belief steadfastly."

According to the press release, the agenda of the included discussions on political affairs, organizational matters, issues faced by the public, and the upcoming assembly elections. “During the meeting, various topics were addressed, such as party operations, organizational initiatives, challenges encountered by the citizens, and most importantly, the impending assembly elections. The economic crisis, unemployment rates, inflation surge, and ongoing party activities were also highlighted by the party functionaries,” the press release said.

Participants expressed deep concern over the government's negligence towards the citizens, as essential services that were once readily available are now scarce despite public outcry. The continuous cancellation of recruitment processes was condemned, as it only serves to exacerbate the frustration and hopelessness felt by the youth, the press release added.
