Anantnag/ Kulgam, Aug 23: Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehboob Beg Friday said that the alliance between the National Conference and Congress cannot be without compromises.

Talking to reporters after filing his nomination papers from the Anantnag assembly constituency, Beg criticised the NC-Congress alliance saying that the coalition could not be without compromises.

“And PDP is the only party that will never compromise the interests of the people,” he said.

Beg said that it was the reason that the PDP was not included in any alliance.

He said that PDP was the only party that had consistently and fearlessly raised its voice against the onslaught launched on the rights of people post-2019.

Beg said that PDP would repeat its previous performance in south Kashmir and positively impact central and north Kashmir.

Earlier, accompanied by enthusiastic party workers, Beg submitted his nomination papers at the DC Office in Anantnag.

Beg, the son of NC veteran Mirza Afzal Beg, joined PDP just weeks before the 2014 Assembly elections. However, he did not contest the assembly or Lok Sabha polls after joining the party.

Another senior PDP leader Sartaj Madni filed his nomination papers from the Devsar assembly constituency.

After filing his nomination papers at Kulgam, Madni, who served as the Deputy Speaker of the J&K Assembly, said that the PDP was the only party that genuinely talked about the issues and concerns of the people of J&K.

He appealed to the voters to cast their votes for PDP to help make J&K a peaceful and prosperous region.
