NC concerned over waterlogging of Srinagar’s low lying areas
Srinagar, July 31: National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar has expressed concern over the widespread waterlogging of low lying areas across Srinagar
According to a press release, he said that the big claims on the Srinagar Smart City projects are nothing but a cruel joke in the face of the harsh reality of water scarcity, deteriorating road infrastructure, and numerous other civic issues plaguing the city.
During his tour of Kak Mohalla and Radapora areas in Khawja Bazaar, within the Khanyar Constituency, Sagar engaged in a brief interaction with both locals and party functionaries. He was informed about the pressing issues plaguing the areas and he was swift in assuring the residents that their urgent demands would be brought to the attention of the authorities.
Sagar also assured the people that the party's commitment to advocating for people's needs remains unwavering and resolute.
Sagar emphasised that the government's failure to regularly desilt drains was a major factor in the rapid inundation of these areas. "The roads at Boulevard, Downtown, and Uptown Srinagar were completely flooded after the downpour, revealing the inadequacy of the drainage system. Dividends of ‘Smart City Project’ remain untraceable to this date. Where did all that money go? The situation is dire and calls for immediate action to prevent further damage and inconvenience to the residents," he said.
