Nazir Gurezi of NC wins from Gurez, says 'people are not thankless'

Bandipora, Oct 08: The former deputy speaker and MLA, Nazir Gurezi of National conference secured win from Gurez constituency of north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

Talking to media, Gurezi said his win was a defeat for those leaders, "who campaigned against me in Gurez," referring to defence minister Rajnath Singh's visit to the valley to support his candidate, Faqeer Mohammad Khan of BJP.

"I was alone and fought against the whole BJP government," Gurezi said, adding, "This defeat is Modi Ji's defeat, not BJP's defeat."

"They had money and muscle power. You won't believe in one rally they spend 35 to 40 lakhs...There was so much propaganda against me and even my personal life affected."

He said, "People hold the power and they are with those who serve them like a family and servant, not like an MLA."

Gurezi said, "Today I believe people are not thankless, they lift those who take equal part in their joys and grief," adding, "I thank all those who supported me and voted for me and also those who criticized me or voted against me."

Gurezi said, "Politicians fight ends with vote, after this there is no fight and we are all like brothers now", adding, he has to work more towards those who voted against him.
