Nawab Bazar residents decry haphazard digging of road
Srinagar, June 7: Residents of Nawab Bazar area in Downtown have expressed resentment against the haphazard digging of road by Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL) saying it has hampered vehicular movement on the route.
A delegation from the area said that due to an inordinate delay in the completion of the road, the locals face immense hardships. “The whole road is dug up and we cannot even walk on the uneven surface. In case of any medical or other exigency, it will be difficult for locals to move of the dug-up road,” they said.
The residents said that from last nearly a year they have been suffering due to slow pace of development works including drainage construction. “After drainage construction, the road was haphazardly filled up leaving an uneven surface. We are not against development but we decry slow pace of work and ill-planned execution,” they said.
“We make a fervent appeal to Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter and ensure speedy completion of the road,” they added.
