Jammu, Jan 19: J&K government has asked all Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioner, Heads of the Departments and Managing Directors of all PSUs and Corporations to strictly comply with the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure “appropriate National Voters' Day celebrations.”

National Voters' Day is being celebrated across the country on January 25, 2024, with the theme “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure.”

“In order to ensure befitting celebrations of National Voters' Day (NVD) across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission of India has desired that necessary instructions should be issued to schools and educational institutions for organizing events like debates, discussions, competitions (drawing, skit, song, painting, essay etc) on the theme specified. The events shall be organized on the said date at 11 am,” read a circular issued by GAD Commissioner Secretary Sanjeev Verma.

“It has further been desired that the officers and officials of government departments, PSUs and Corporations and offices in the Union Territory shall be administered the NVD pledge on the Day and that photographs of these events be uploaded using hashtag #NVD2024, on their respective social media handles or websites of these departments, PSUs and Corporations,” Verma has directed.

As per the directions, besides, the logo for National Voters' Day, which reinforces the importance of voting, may also be suitably utilized on official stationery, merchandise, websites etc.

“Accordingly, it is impressed upon all Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Heads of the Departments and Managing Directors of all PSUs and Corporations to strictly comply with the instructions of the Election Commission of India issued in terms of communication No 491/ECI/LET/FUNC/SVEEP-I/NVD/2023 dated January 8, 2024 and ensure appropriate National Voters' Day Celebrations across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” GAD circular further read.
