National girl child day celebrated in Rajouri
Rajouri, Oct 13: On national girl child day, the Indian Army, in conjunction with the State Bank of India (SBI) Nowshera, launched a programme to empower young girls in the villages of Makri, Sher, Namb, Karhali, Jhangar, and Sariya.
These villages are located close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sub division of Rajouri district, a press release said.
The initiative, held from October 11 to October 13, aimed to improve financial security by helping families open Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) accounts for girls aged up to 10 years.
SBI officials from Nowshera visited Jhangar to assist families in opening SSY accounts.
The programme raised awareness about the SSY scheme, which encourages saving for the education and future of girl children.
The event saw participation from 44 villagers, resulting in the successful opening of 23 new SSY accounts.
Bank officials also conducted an informative session about the SSY scheme and other beneficial policies, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring a brighter future for the daughters in the community.
