Narco-terror module busted, 3 apprehended in Karnah: Police

Kupwara, June 15: Police in Kupwara got a major success after a narco-terror module was busted in border town Karnah leading to recovery of contraband besides arms and ammunition.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Shobhit Saxena told Greater Kashmir, a narco-terror module was busted after an input was received that few persons in Karnah were trying to find buyers for heroin.

“Subsequently a joint trap by Police and Army was laid with the result two persons including Shafeeq Ahmad Sheikh son of Late Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, resident of Khawarpara Karnah and Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik, resident of Baghbella were apprehended with approximately 500 grams of heroin. Upon their personal interrogation, it came to fore that a consignment of arms and ammunition was lying with one Parvez Ahmad Pathan resident of Sadhpura,” SSP said.

Saxena said that Parvez was immediately apprehended in a joint raid by Police and Army, following which three pistols, seventy six pistol rounds, six pistol magazines and approximately 5 kg suspected explosives were recovered from his possession.

The Kupwara Police Chief said that the enemies of peace want to derail the prevailing peace in Kashmir Valley by “resorting to nefarious designs” but Kupwara Police was committed to thwart any such attempt. He appealed to the general public to not fall prey to enemies.

Meanwhile Police in a statement said, “On an input that person was trying to find buyers for heroin, a trap was laid by JKP and Army in Karnah and two persons Shafeeq Ahmad Sheikh son of Late Mohd Shafi Sheikh, resident of Khawarpara Karnah and Tariq Ahmad Malik, son of Gh. Ahmad Malik, resident of Baghbella, was apprehended with approximately 500 grams of heroin”.

“Further investigation revealed the recovery of three pistols from one Parvez Ahmed Pathan, resident of Sadhpura.”

“Immediately Parvez was apprehended in a joint raid by JKP and Army and 3 pistols, 76 pistol rounds, 6 pistol magazines and approximately 5 kgs suspected explosives were recovered from his possession,” the statement reads.

“In this regard, an FIR was registered and further interrogations and investigation is ongoing”.

“Kupwara Police is committed to the zero terror policy. A total of three persons were arrested and 500 grams of heroin, 5 kilogram of explosives, 3 pistols, 76 rounds, 6 pistol magazines recovered,” reads the statement further.
