Nagrota police arrest 3 from Ganderbal
Jammu, Apr 13: Jammu police Saturday arrested three accused from Ganderbal for aiding a notorious criminal, involved in multiple highway robberies, in escaping from police custody.
“A team of Nagrota Police swung into action after the notorious criminal Basharat Mehmood, son of Mohd Kabir, resident of Saaj Nerojal, tehsil Thanamandi, Rajouri, involved in multiple highway robberies, escaped from police custody from District Court, Janipur. Accordingly, a case FIR No 44/2024 U/S 353,332,224 IPC was registered in Police Station Janipur against the accused,” a police spokesperson said.
After strenuous efforts, Nagrota police, equally supported by technical team, got a lead regarding the presence of the accused in Ganderbal area.
“Police party in close coordination with district police Ganderbal raided the identified location and was able to apprehended three persons viz., Zaffer Hussain Khatana alias Adil, son of Abdul Hussain Khatana, resident of Koteranka in Rajouri; Suhail Ahmad Kuhroo, son of Gh Mohiuddin Kuhroo and Sonia Kouser, wife of Suhail Ahmad Khuroo, both residents of Athkhuroo, Shadipora in Ganderbal,” police spokesperson said.
According to police spokesperson, Khatana had hatched a criminal conspiracy and was successful in aiding escape of the accused Basharat from police custody on Pulsar Bike, bearing registration number PB35AH 7759. Same bike was also recovered from Ganderbal.
Suhail and his wife were arrested by Nagrota police as they had given shelter to these criminals in their house in Ganderbal district.
“The main accused gave a slip to police by taking advantage of darkness. Later on, the trio, involved in hatching a conspiracy and harbouring criminals, was arrested from Ganderbal and handed over to police station Janipur for further investigation,” the spokesperson said.
