Jammu, July 6: Exhorting party rank and file to gear up for assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president and Union Minister J P Nadda Saturday asserted that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government bought peace, rhythm of life and democracy back in J&K, post Article 370 abrogation.

He was addressing the second day of a two-day working committee meeting of J&K BJP here.

Nadda stated that it was to the credit of the Modi government to end discrimination against Jammu; ensure equitable development across J&K; stop ‘Hartal culture’ in Kashmir; end the cycle of violence and ensure peace along borders.

“Before 2014, there used to be a routine bandh in Jammu in protest against step motherly treatment. Kashmir used to have its “Bandh (Hartal) calendar” on the call of separatists and terrorists. The people used to witness violence across J&K and its borders. This has changed now under Modi ji due to his “Saaf Niyat and Saaf Niti” (honest intentions and clear policy),” Nadda said.

He said that security forces were given free hand to deal with the terrorists on the border and in the city or town in case they (terrorists) dared to attack. “The government was working to effectively deal with the terror ecosystem and the change was perceptible,” the BJP president said.

The working committee meeting of J&K BJP led by its president Ravinder Raina was held at Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Sabhagar, in Majestic Grand Palace, Mishriwala, Jammu.

G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister & Election Incharge J&K BJP; BJP national general secretary and Prabhari J&K Tarun Chugh; national secretary Dr Narinder Singh; Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh; MP Jugal Kishore Sharma; MP (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Ali Khatana; Seh-Prabhari Ashish Sood; former Deputy Chief Ministers Dr Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta and general secretary Dr D K Manyal shared the dais with Nadda.

Nadda lauded J&K BJP cadre for achieving cent percent result in Lok Sabha elections and added that the third term of Modi government was made possible by the dedicated BJP cadre. He said that they defeated the forces of corruption and nepotism.

He took a jibe at Congress that it was celebrating its third defeat in a row as it could not even cross 100 mark for the third time.

Taking a dig at Congress, Nadda said that Congress was a kind of parasite, relying on its allies for its existence and finally annihilating them. “BJP is run by an ideology of ‘Ekatma ManavVad’ and ‘Antyodya’. Modi ji has simplified these terms into the popular version of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas.” It is fighting on its own strength,” he said.

Earlier Nadda paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee.

While addressing the extended working committee meeting, he remembered the sacrifices and contributions of Dr Mookerjee, the founder president of Bharatiya Jana Sangha, on his birth anniversary.

He said that Mookherjee lived the life of a statesman, a revolutionary, an educationist and visionary. He remembered how Mookerjee resisted the permit system for J&K and had to lay down his life in Srinagar jail in miserable conditions.

He said, “Four generations have worked since his supreme sacrifice to end the ‘2 Nishan, 2 vidhan, 2 pradhan’ on August 5, 2019.” Nadda also remembered the strong leadership of Sher-e-Duggar Pandit Prem Nath Dogra.
