NABARD organises workshop for women SHG leaders
Srinagar, Jan 31: NABARD today organised a sensitization workshop for women SHG leaders in Kulgam district.
A statement said that the workshop was attended by DDM NABARD Rouf Zargar, DPM NRLM Shazia Farooq, Lead Bank Officer Tafazul Ahmad, president VOESEP NGO Manzoor Ahmad, and Block programme managers from various blocks were also present.
Around 30 SHG leaders from Pahloo and Devsar blocks involved in papier machie handicrafts attended the workshop.
During the workshop, different topics like benefits of SHGs, effective SHG documentation and record keeping, inspiration for savings for SHGs, NABARD Panch Sutra (Regular SHG meeting, regular saving, regular inter-loaning, regular repayment and regular SHG documentation), importance of individual saving account, process and methodologies of bank credit linkage, etc. were discussed.
DDM NABARD gave an overview of the microfinance sector in India with special reference to J&K. He gave the details of marketing initiatives through NABARD for the benefit of SHGs and artisans such as Rural Haat, Rural Mart, Exhibitions, and Melas among others.
He urged the female SHG leaders to take benefit of such schemes which would lead to their socio-economic empowerment. He enjoined the women dealing with papier machie to get training under LEDP and MEDP scheme of NABARD.
