Srinagar, Mar 7:  NABARD celebrated the International Women’s Day- 2024 in Anantnag and Shopian districts. In this regard two separate programmes were held in two districts. One programme was held at RSETI Anantnag and other at RSETI Kulgam.

The programmes were attended by a large number of female self-employment trainees having undergone training in various trades such as tailoring, beauticians, general EDP and other courses.

On the occasion Cluster Head Shazi Khan was invited as chief guest and among other dignitaries, DDM NABARD Rouf Zargar, LDM Anantnag, LDM Kulgam, Directors of RSETI Anantnag and Kulgam, DST Trainer Smt Nighat Amin were present in the event. On the occasion, Ridwana, a successful social entrepreneur running Kashmir’s first sanitary pad making unit in Anantnag was invited as special invitee.

He also shared the details of various support schemes of NABARD for empowerment of rural women through microenterprise development programmes (MEDPs), livelihood and enterprise development programmes (LEDPs), self-help groups (SHGs), joint liability groups (JLGs), farmer producer organizations (FPOs), watershed, financial and digital literacy campaigns.

Lead District Managers spoke on the occasion and expressed their views and thoughts about women empowerment. They threw light on the role of banks in supporting female entrepreneurs.
