NAAC Peer team arrives at Kashmir University for 3-day assessment visit
Srinagar, May 29: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer team on Thursday arrived at the Kashmir University (KU) main campus for its three-day assessment visit of the varsity.
The two-member team has come for physical inspection of the University in connection with the NAAC reaccreditation of the varsity. The visit will continue till May 31, 2025.
Besides physical inspection, a five-member team of NAAC is online connected with the peer team which has arrived at the university. This time the inspection is being conducted in a blend mode.
An official said the NAAC team arrived at the University campus on Thursday morning and had an introductory meeting with the Vice Chancellor (VC) Kashmir University which was followed by a closed-door meeting of the NAAC team with their online team connected from Bangalore.
This was followed by the interaction of the NAAC team with the VC which was also attended by Deans and heads of various departments.
"The meeting lasted for over one and a half hour during which the VC delivered a powerpoint presentation," the official said.
During the interaction, a documentary was also presented to the NAAC team which highlighted the programmes offered by the University besides other facilities, admission process and IT services.
"The NAAC team members including those connected online held discussions regarding different aspects including Research and examination system," the official said.
During the interaction, the NAAC team members also discussed the IT services available in the University and its affiliated colleges.
"The NAAC team was briefed about the student-centric services available online at the varsity," the official told Greater Kashmir.
The interaction was followed by the meeting of the NAAC team with the Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA) who delivered a powerpoint presentation before the NAAC team.
"The team discussed the working of the DIQA with regard to the ranking parameters and the IT driven blind feedback system for the students about the performance and teaching ability of the teachers," the official said.
This was followed by the presentation of some Heads of the Departments (HoDs) and Dean Academic Affairs (DAA) KU.
Following this, the NAAC team visited several departments for physical inspection while the online team was virtually observing the inspection.
The team also visited Institute of Technology (IoT) Zakura and Botanical Garden of the University and later held an interaction with the Dean Research KU as well. "During the interaction, the NAAC team discussed various research projects," the official said.
Before winding up for the day, the NAAC peer team held another closed-door meeting at the varsity.
This year, the NAAC team is not hosted by KU administration as the arrangements have been made by the NAAC office.
NAAC is an autonomous body that assesses and accredits higher education institutions in India. It was formed after recommendations from National Policy on Education (1986), which laid emphasis on upholding the quality of higher education in India.
As already reported, KU is presently accredited with an A+ grade by the NAAC. The last visit of the NAAC team was held in May 2019 and the accreditation was valid up to May 2024.
