Mystery continues to shroud deaths in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir
Rajouri, Feb 14: Mystery continues to shroud Badhaal village of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir where 17 persons died due to a mysterious disease.
While the 350 residents who were kept in separation facilities for 22 days returned home yesterday, the lack of clarity on the cause of deaths continues to fuel anxiety in the village.
Meanwhile, 40 people have been put up in a special ward established at the GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri where they are under the 24×7 medical surveillance.
Officials said that the authorities are providing free ration to 20 families who have been affected by the tragedy and lost their members. Besides free ration, authorities are also providing them with water supply and other basic essentials.
Additionally, 61 other families have also been provided with free ration after their stored ration and grains were seized.
On Thursday, authorities ordered the seizure of all grain and ration stocks in Badhaal village with the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) department tasked to replace the material with fresh stock.
Officials informed that although investigation on the cause of 17 mysterious deaths in Badhaal village is going on, they have seized the material as a precautionary measure. The investigation is ongoing both on the medical and police front.
