MVD Baramulla issues 32 challans, blacklists 2 vehicles during traffic drive
Sopore, Nov 9: In a bid to strengthen traffic discipline and enforce road safety norms, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Baramulla conducted an extensive enforcement drive along the Narbal–Tangmarg route.
The drive was carried out under the directions of the Transport Commissioner, J&K, and supervised by ARTO Baramulla Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi. The operation aimed to ensure strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act and traffic regulations.
During the drive, officials inspected over 100 vehicles for various traffic and documentation violations. As a result, 32 e-challans were issued on the spot, while two vehicles were blacklisted for serious offences. The total fine collected through the challans amounted to nearly Rs 70,000.
ARTO Baramulla Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi said the department is conducting such enforcement drives on a regular basis to check violations and promote responsible driving.
“These drives are meant to ensure that both transport and passenger vehicles adhere to safety standards, proper documentation, and lawful operation,” Sofi said.
He urged vehicle owners and drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and cooperate with enforcement teams to help build a safer road culture in the district.
