Broadcaster Muzaffar Hussain Kashani passes away
Srinagar, Jan 02: Popular news reader in Radio Kashmir Srinagar and father of journalist Sarwar Kashani, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Kashani passed away on Thursday in New Delhi at the age of 78.
A close relative informed Greater Kashmir that Kashani breathed his last after a brief illness. "His body will be brought to Kashmir for last rites," he said.
Born in Gojwara area of old Srinagar, Kashani was a close relative of famous saint Syed Mirak Shah Kashani.
Initially he was a government school teacher and worked in School Education Department for a brief spell and later joined Radio Kashmir as an announcer.
In 1980s, Kashani was appointed in All India Radio New Delhi for Kashmiri news reading. After spending few years there, he was transferred to Regional News Unit in Radio Kashmir Srinagar.
Besides a good programmer and news reader he did a special Sehri transmission for three years. He had a good command over Kashmiri and Urdu Language.
In his last message, as shared by famous broadcaster Hussain Zaffar, Muzaffar Kashani urged youth to take care of their health and stay away from drugs. He also stressed on good parenting and giving love to the kids.
